1. Introduction
Welcome to Qubi, a companion app for the Qubi hardware device, published by Qolour (“we”, “us”, or “our”). Qubi is an interactive quantum computing device that lets users play games, explore quantum concepts, run demonstrations, and submit quantum circuits to real quantum computers via the cloud. The app controls and communicates with that hardware over Bluetooth.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the app, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By downloading or using Qubi, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the Qubi experience.
Account information
When you create a Qubi account, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Password (stored in encrypted form. We never store plaintext passwords.)
If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we may receive your name and email address (or a private relay address) from those providers instead of collecting them directly.
Quantum circuit data
When you choose to submit a quantum circuit to a real quantum computer, the circuit configuration you have built is transmitted to AWS Braket (Amazon Web Services) for processing. This is technical computation data only. It contains no personal information and is not linked to your account or identity.
Hardware communication data
The app communicates with your Qubi hardware device locally over Bluetooth. This data (such as device state and control commands) is not transmitted to our servers and does not leave your device.
We do not currently collect device analytics, usage data, crash reports, or any other information beyond the above.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Create and manage your Qubi account.
- Authenticate your identity when you sign in.
- Enable communication between the app and your Qubi hardware device.
- Submit quantum circuits to AWS Braket on your behalf when you request it.
- Communicate with you about your account, app updates, or support requests.
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Third-party services
Qubi integrates with the following third-party services. Each processes data as described in their own privacy policies:
Firebase Authentication (Google LLC)
Powers account creation and sign-in, including email/password login, Sign in with Apple, and Sign in with Google. Firebase processes your email address and authentication tokens on our behalf. Privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Sign in with Apple (Apple Inc.)
If you sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name and email address (or a private relay address) with us. Privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.
Sign in with Google (Google LLC)
If you sign in with Google, Google may share your name and email address with us. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
AWS Braket (Amazon Web Services)
When you choose to run a circuit on a real quantum computer, your quantum circuit configuration is submitted to AWS Braket for processing. No personal information is included in this submission. AWS processes this data under their own terms. Privacy policy: aws.amazon.com/privacy.
We do not currently use any analytics, advertising, or crash reporting SDKs. If this changes, we will update this policy before doing so.
5. Bluetooth and local device communication
The Qubi app uses Bluetooth to connect to and communicate with your Qubi hardware device. This connection is entirely local. No data exchanged between the app and the hardware is transmitted to our servers or any third party. Wi-Fi connectivity may be added in a future update, and this policy will be revised accordingly.
6. Children's privacy
Qubi is designed for all ages, including younger audiences with an interest in quantum computing and science. We are committed to complying with applicable children's privacy laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at support@qolour.io and we will take steps to remove that information promptly.
If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before creating an account.
7. Data retention and deletion
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Qubi service.
If you wish to have your account and associated personal data deleted, please contact us at support@qolour.io or via our website at www.qolour.io. We are currently building a self-service account deletion feature within the app, which will be available in a future update. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will process it within 30 days.
8. Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encryption of passwords at rest.
- Secure HTTPS transmission of data in transit.
- Restricted internal access to personal data on a need-to-know basis.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we take your security seriously, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International data transfers
Qubi operates globally. Your account information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers (such as Google and AWS) operate their infrastructure. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place where required by applicable law.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:
- Access. Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction. Request that we correct inaccurate data.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@qolour.io. We will respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or a similar jurisdiction, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For example, when we add Wi-Fi connectivity, usage analytics, or new third-party integrations. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and notify you via the app or email where required.
Your continued use of Qubi after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
